- lacrimoso – tearfully; i.e., sadly
- lamentando – lamenting, mournfully
- lamentoso – lamenting, mournfully
- langsam (Ger) – slowly
- largamente – broadly; i.e., slowly (same as largo)
- larghetto – somewhat slowly; not as slow as largo
- Larghissimo – very slowly; slower than largo
